CFC recruits new property practice leader

CFC recruits new property practice leaderWe are pleased to announce the arrival of Simon Richardson as property practice leader, a newly created role at CFC.

Former Director of Howden’s North America Property and Casualty Division, Simon has over 10 years experience in insurance and reinsurance predominantly within the US property and terrorism market. In his new role, Simon will direct his expertise towards defining CFC’s property strategy and underwriting approach and creating a suite of tailored and innovative products.

CFC Underwriting Director Andrew Holmes comments: “We are delighted to welcome Simon on board. His appointment demonstrates our commitment to bringing in leading professionals to drive constant expansion and innovation. As we’ve grown, property has become an increasingly important part of our overall product offering and it is certainly something our brokers have been increasingly asking us for. The time was therefore right to bring someone on board to manage and develop our property portfolio. With his extensive relationships across the property and casualty markets and broad range of underwriting and business development expertise, Simon was the obvious choice to lead the expansion of this new area for us.”

CFC recruits senior industry figure to head the new IP division

CFC recruits senior industry figure to head the new IP divisionWe are pleased to announce our launch into the intellectual property market following the transfer of Munich Re’s intellectual property team led by Erik Alsegard.

Over the last few years, we have seen a growing demand from our existing client base for intellectual property rights insurance. Protecting IP assets and exposures is vital to any business, but particularly to start ups and growing businesses in the media, technology, life science and pharmaceutical industries. The addition of the Munich Re team is therefore a natural progression as it complements our existing offerings for these industries.

Commenting on his new role at CFC, Erik Alsegard said: “CFC has built a reputation based on its unwavering commitment to delivering remarkable products backed up by remarkable service. I have been really impressed with the efficiency of its underwriting operation and its global distribution. I am truly excited to be joining the CFC team and look forward to building a practice that is every bit as successful as CFC’s current areas of expertise.”

We’ve launched a new policy for residents and tenants associations, ExecSurance™ R&T

We've launched a new policy for residents and tenants associations, ExecSurance R&TExecSurance™ R&T is designed to protect directors, officers and committee members that sit on the boards of residents and tenants associations against the broad range of personal liability exposures they face. Rather than simply adapting an existing D&O policy, we’ve provided full entity cover for the association and do not limit this to wrongful acts of the individuals managing the company. In addition, we’ve also removed the bodily injury, property damage and failure to maintain insurance exclusions all too frequently applied to this type of insurance.

Like all of our products, ExecSurance™ R&T is a modular policy allowing brokers and clients to pick and choose their basket of covers. Key features include:

  • Comprehensive individual cover
  • Association cover not tied to wrongful acts of individuals
  • Loss of documents cover
  • Court attendance cover
  • Loss mitigation cover
  • Reputation and brand cover

We endured another triathlon, this time supporting Action for A-T

We endured another triathlon, this time supporting Action for A-T
Well, if last year’s decision to have 7 teams participate in the 2011 London Triathlon was slightly crazy, surely we were out of our minds to be doing it all over again in the 2012 London Triathlon.

Almost half of us here at CFC took part in the Sprint Team Relay, an event consisting of a 750m open water swim, a 20k bike ride and a 5k run. Happily, it paid off and we managed to raise over £5,000 for Action for A-T, a charity which supports the research of Ataxia-Telangiectasia, a rare and progressive childhood neurodegenerative disease. There is currently no cure for this terrible condition, but hopefully with more support and research, scientists will be able to find one.

Our ‘Directors’ team consisting of Graeme Newman, Andy Holmes and Michael Grist once again showed the youngsters how it is done by completing the course in just 1hr 35mins. All of our teams placed within the top 200 of over 300 competing, and our leading team finished 23rd with a lightning fast time of 1hr 18mins. Surprisingly, we had no disqualified teams this year!

Thank you so much to everyone who took part, cheered us on and sponsored us.
