Last week, CFC attended the second annual Insurance Insider Cyber Rankings Awards in London. Based off the results of the publication’s Cyber Rankings Survey, these awards recognise the achievements of the market’s rising stars, most skilled practitioners, and most highly regarded companies.
We’re proud to announce that CFC won in four of the five underwriting categories, including two individual awards. Cyber Underwriter Matthew Lewis won in the Rising Star Underwriter category, and Corporate Cyber Practice Leader Andrew Prendergast won in the Cyber Underwriter of the Year category. For anyone who has worked with either, you’ll know they are greatly deserved. We’re so proud to have them on our team!
CFC’s Incident Response App, which provides policyholders with easy access to our 24/7 global cyber incident response centre, also won in the Cyber Innovation of the Year (underwriting) category. The app allows users to report incidents, notify claims and request urgent assistance at any time of the day or night.
Last but not least, CFC was voted Cyber Underwriting Firm of the Year for the second year running.
Thank you to Insurance Insider – the survey facilitators and event hosts – and to everyone who voted for us! We’re incredibly honoured.
CFC is proud to announce that Her Majesty The Queen has approved the Prime Minister’s recommendation that CFC should receive a Queen’s Award for Enterprise in the International Trade category.
Winners in this category are recognised for having demonstrated a substantial and sustained increase in export earnings over three consecutive 12-month periods, to a level which is outstanding for the products and services concerned, and for the size of the organisation.
With a track record of pioneering emerging risks and disrupting inefficient insurance markets, CFC has grown to become one of the fastest growing specialist insurance providers in the UK. From just one office in the City of London, the business provides its range of insurance products exclusively through authorised insurance brokers in over 75 countries around the world.
CFC was previously awarded a Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade in 2013.
“Speaking on behalf of the entire team, we are incredibly honoured to once again be recognised by Her Majesty The Queen for our contribution to UK business in achieving substantial growth in overseas earnings,” says David Walsh, CFC’s founder and CEO. “We are an insurance exporter in the truest sense of the word. We don’t set up local operations or buy up the competition, we export. Last year we brought in over £150m in premiums to the UK from overseas customers who would normally have purchased their insurance locally.”
“At CFC, we are very proud that today 60% of our business is owned by management and staff. Our success lies in their passion, entrepreneurialism, dedication and sheer hard work to deliver remarkable products and service. This award recognises their efforts. I couldn’t be more proud of them and firmly believe that by continuing to support these qualities in our team, we will achieve our business goals.”
The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise have been operating in various forms since 1966, developing over the years into the UK’s most prestigious business accolade. Today, the Awards are widely recognised as a highly valued mark of excellence across many sectors in a diverse and competitive business market.
On December 1st, CFC filed into the InterContinental O2 along with peers and partners in the London market, looking forward to a fun evening at the Insurance Times Awards, hosted by none other that Dara O Briain (for all non-UK readers, a quick Wiki look-up may be needed. He really is quite funny.) By the end of the evening much fun was had but also, best of all, we had won the coveted award for MGA of the Year.
Needless to say, it has been a phenomenal year and we are proud beyond words to announce this recognition, which really does mean the world to us. The annual awards acknowledge the best performing players and brightest stars of the UK insurance market and to have been named alongside them was the cherry on top of a brilliant year for us. We couldn’t have done this without the support of our partners and the passion of our CFC team – we see this award as a testament to the great things we can achieve together and thank everyone for their support. What a way to finish 2016!
A successful awards season continues for CFC with the announcement of the company having won the Best Use of Technology to Improve Client Experience award at the Tech & Innovation Awards hosted by Insurance Times. The award ceremony took place in London on 22 September and was attended by company directors and the development team, and was a well-deserved celebration of their continuous hard work.
The trophy was awarded for our innovative proprietary software which allows us to develop and manage policies in a way that has never before been attempted. It is just the latest creation by our technology development team in an ongoing effort to develop and improve in-house systems to provide exceptional service to both brokers and insureds.
We are very proud indeed to announce that CFC Underwriting was named MGA of the Year at this year's Insurance Insider Honours ceremony in London.
The Insurance Insider Honours is a prestigious annual event which showcases the London Market’s brightest insurance stars.
Dave Walsh, CEO, says of the win: “To have won this award against such strong competition is a massive testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone at CFC. I would like to thank all of our staff as well as our brokers, customers and carriers for their amazing support.”
We are incredibly proud to announce that CFC Underwriting was named Digital/Cyber Risk Insurance Provider of the Year at the Commercial Insurance Awards hosted by CIR Magazine in London last night.
We also went on to win the ultimate accolade of the evening, being named the Overall Winner.
Now in their third year, the Commercial Insurance Awards are the showcase for excellence within commercial insurance. In winning the Digital/Cyber Risk Insurance Provider of the Year category, CFC was recognised for having delivered the best digital risk offering in the market over the last year.
CFC’s Cyber Practice Leader, Vicky Paxton, says: “The cyber team is overwhelmed to have won this award. We’ve made a huge investment in cyber this year and it’s been a real team effort across products, claims, marketing and underwriting. To have been recognised by the judges for setting the standard in this vital area of coverage is testament to the passion our company has for this emerging class of insurance. We are incredibly proud and it will spur us on to continue to drive forward its development and innovation.”
19 Jun 15: We are incredibly proud to announce that our very own Graeme Newman was named Cyber Risk Industry Person of the Year (London) at the second annual Cyber Risk Awards presented by Advisen in New York this week.
“Advisen’s Cyber Risk Awards signify the highest level of peer approval and recognition indicated by the largest number of votes from the P&C community,” said Rebecca Bole, SVP Research & Editorial at Advisen
Unlike other industry award presentations, Advisen’s Cyber Risk Awards are bestowed by “People’s Choice” with nominations and votes casted by over 40,000 P&C professionals passionate about cyber risk.
Graeme Newman says: “I feel extremely humble given that these awards are driven by the people that we work with and compete against every day. I don’t really view this as an individual award, rather it recognises the efforts of the whole cyber team here at CFC. We’re passionate about this emerging class of insurance and proud to play a small part in driving forward its development and innovation.”
Sep 14: TechAssure, the international association of insurance and risk management experts for technology-related industries, announced today that Graeme Newman of CFC Underwriting is the 2014 recipient of the John Love Risk Innovation Award. The award is presented each year to an insurance professional who has demonstrated ingenuity, innovation and intellect to solve an issue within the risk management industry. Graeme was presented the award by TechAssure Chairman Bryan Costello, of Costello & Sons Insurance, and Executive Director Garrett Droege during their fall conference in Denver, CO.
“Graeme has been a pioneer for developments within the cyber liability and social media insurance marketplace and has creatively addressed many of the challenges in the industry,” said Droege. “CFC Underwriting has become one of the leading providers of cyber insurance, both domestically and internationally, and Graeme Newman has been critical in their growth.”
Newman currently serves as Marketing Director at CFC Underwriting – a UK-based underwriting agency for Lloyd’s of London. Previously, Newman was a consultant for Deloitte.
The John Love Award was created in 2012 after long-time TechAssure Director, John Love, passed away suddenly. John Edward Love, CPCU, was well-known in the insurance industry as a dynamic and creative individual who addressed any challenge with finesse and ease. The award is meant to celebrate his “out-of-the-box” thinking and vision.
