CFC is proud to announce that Her Majesty The Queen has approved the Prime Minister’s recommendation that CFC should receive a Queen’s Award for Enterprise in the International Trade category.
Winners in this category are recognised for having demonstrated a substantial and sustained increase in export earnings over three consecutive 12-month periods, to a level which is outstanding for the products and services concerned, and for the size of the organisation.
With a track record of pioneering emerging risks and disrupting inefficient insurance markets, CFC has grown to become one of the fastest growing specialist insurance providers in the UK. From just one office in the City of London, the business provides its range of insurance products exclusively through authorised insurance brokers in over 75 countries around the world.
CFC was previously awarded a Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade in 2013.
“Speaking on behalf of the entire team, we are incredibly honoured to once again be recognised by Her Majesty The Queen for our contribution to UK business in achieving substantial growth in overseas earnings,” says David Walsh, CFC’s founder and CEO. “We are an insurance exporter in the truest sense of the word. We don’t set up local operations or buy up the competition, we export. Last year we brought in over £150m in premiums to the UK from overseas customers who would normally have purchased their insurance locally.”
“At CFC, we are very proud that today 60% of our business is owned by management and staff. Our success lies in their passion, entrepreneurialism, dedication and sheer hard work to deliver remarkable products and service. This award recognises their efforts. I couldn’t be more proud of them and firmly believe that by continuing to support these qualities in our team, we will achieve our business goals.”
The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise have been operating in various forms since 1966, developing over the years into the UK’s most prestigious business accolade. Today, the Awards are widely recognised as a highly valued mark of excellence across many sectors in a diverse and competitive business market.
We are incredibly proud to announce that CFC Underwriting was voted the winner in three categories at the 2017 Cyber Risk Awards presented by Advisen in New York on Wednesday, 14 June.
Our very own Graeme Newman was voted Cyber Risk Industry Person of the Year (London) while the introduction of our cyber incident response app was voted the Cyber Risk Innovation of the Year. Topping the evening off, CFC was named Cyber Risk Insurer of the Year.
CFC CEO David Walsh says: “There aren’t enough words to express the pride I feel in the recognition bestowed on our business by our peers and colleagues in the cyber insurance industry. The fact that Advisen’s Cyber Risk Awards are nominated and voted for by thousands of insurance professionals around the world makes the achievements of our entire cyber team all the more special.
“We’re passionate about this class of insurance and these awards will spur the team on to push the boundaries further as we seek to drive innovation in this rapidly changing and challenging sector of the market.”
In Tuesday’s Lloyd’s Community Shield ‘Plate’ Division Final the CFC blues won a smashing victory against Talbot, beating the competition 3-0 at the home of Charlton Athletic Football Club. It proved to be the perfect venue for the exhilarating game the crowd was about to watch.
It was a heated match with Talbot giving it their all to get their revenge for a 5-3 defeat during the group stages earlier in the season. The CFC team covered good ground on the pitch and put on the pressure with numerous early attempts at scoring, all of which missed their goal by only a hair’s width. The first goal came just before halftime and was scored by eventual Man of the Match, Antony Aylett – an exhilarating side shot into the corner. Following halftime, Michael Spinks tried his best to make himself unpopular with Talbot and succeeded by scoring two further goals, aided by fantastic passes by the team. And so the game ended with a decisive 3-0 victory – a well-deserved win as everyone on the team had given it their all.
Throughout the game, the team was cheered on by a strong turnout from their CFC colleagues, friends and family, who’d travelled from central London to “The Valley” to support their work mates. Having tasted victory this time, the winners have promised everyone a repeat in next year’s Lloyd’s Cup. Aon and Arthur J Gallagher… bring it on.
We are incredibly proud to announce that CFC Underwriting was named Digital/Cyber Risk Insurance Provider of the Year at the Commercial Insurance Awards hosted by CIR Magazine in London last night.
We also went on to win the ultimate accolade of the evening, being named the Overall Winner.
Now in their third year, the Commercial Insurance Awards are the showcase for excellence within commercial insurance. In winning the Digital/Cyber Risk Insurance Provider of the Year category, CFC was recognised for having delivered the best digital risk offering in the market over the last year.
CFC’s Cyber Practice Leader, Vicky Paxton, says: “The cyber team is overwhelmed to have won this award. We’ve made a huge investment in cyber this year and it’s been a real team effort across products, claims, marketing and underwriting. To have been recognised by the judges for setting the standard in this vital area of coverage is testament to the passion our company has for this emerging class of insurance. We are incredibly proud and it will spur us on to continue to drive forward its development and innovation.”
Sorry for the delay folks! The winner of this year’s best costume prize, with nearly 50% of the votes, is Evil Wally! Congratulations to Julian Kirkby from UIB. Your champagne and lovely trophy is in the post!
CFC is so pleased to announce that it’s been voted Underwriting Team of the Year at the prestigious Insurance Day London Market Awards. This follows 2010’s British Insurance Award for Underwriter of the Year.
Managing Director, David Walsh collected the award on the night. He commented: “I’m very proud to accept this award on behalf of everyone at CFC. We don’t do what we do to win awards, we do it because we strive for the best for our brokers and their clients, but it’s humbling to receive this recognition from the heart of the London market insurance establishment. We’re delighted.”
In considering this award, the notable panel of judges were looking for the company that had achieved what was in their words the ‘remarkably difficult task’ of delivering great service for brokers, ground breaking products and strong growth. CFC ticked all the boxes.
The award was presented on 1st December 2011 at London’s Grosvenor Hotel in a glittering ceremony to mark the tenth year of this most prestigious and hotly contested event.
